Overview

Zola has worked on Banking and Finance transactions across the Projects, Energy, and Infrastructure sectors, with a strong focus on the financing, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects. Her experience includes assisting on transactions under the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) and the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP.

Zola has supported both local and cross border matters, acting for major commercial banks, development finance institutions, and project developers. Her experience includes drafting and reviewing key project documents such as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts, operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements, and power purchase agreements (PPAs). She also has experience preparing and reviewing finance and security documentation.

Experience

Zola has assisted on:

  • ABSA Bank, Nedbank and Standard Bank, as the lenders, on a project developed by Pele Energy Group, for the construction and operation of two 100 MW photovoltaic solar power plants.
  • AMEA Power, as the sponsor, on the construction and operation of a 20 MW photovoltaic solar power plant in the Republic of Uganda.
  • Globeleq and African Rainbow Energy on Red Sands project is a 153 MW / 612 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located near Upington in South Africa’s Northern Cape.
  • Standard Bank, Absa, and Nedbank on financing the 140MW Karreebosch Wind Farm in South Northern/Western Cape.
  • ARCH Africa Renewable Power Fund Tati HoldCo and Etavi Renewables Ltd on the development, construction, and operation as well as on drafting and negotiating the EPC Contract, O&M Contract and Management Services Agreementof a 100MW solar PV project in Botswana.
