Overview
Stephan specialises in private mergers and acquisitions. He has advised on various private equity transactions, most notably inward foreign acquisitions, capital raises, exits and employee incentive schemes, in a variety of sectors including renewable energy, food and agriculture, retail and fintech. He aims to produce innovative, solution-orientated work and recognises the value of a rounded skillset in the private M&A context, assimilating fresh expertise with each transaction. He enjoys building relationships with clients and learning about their businesses.

- Capitec Bank Limited in respect of the acquisition of c. 57% of the issued share capital in Avafin Holding Limited, an international consumer lending group.
- P95 BV, a Belgian portfolio company of international healthcare investor, Ampersand Capital Partners, in respect of the acquisition of 100% of the issued share capital in OnQ Research Proprietary Limited.
- Inspired Evolution in respect of its investment in Equator Energy Limited, a leading commercial and industrial (C&I) solar provider in East Africa.
- Solevo Holdings on its acquisition of Rolfes Holdings, a leading diversified food and agri business.
- Microchem Bluesky on the sale of its shares in SA Lab Experts, a specialized laboratory testing services company.
- Pepkor Trading in respect of the acquisition of the Shoprite Group’s retail furniture business.
