She has extensive experience in advising corporates on sustainable efficient and effective tax management and tax structuring, tax risk management, tax transparency and disclosures. She also has extensive mergers, acquisitions and sales experience acting as tax advisor to her clients.

Managing relationships with revenue authorities is important for taxpayers and Karen assists her clients in this regard. Should disputes arise with revenue authorities, Karen has many years of experience in supporting clients from inception of the dispute to final resolution.

Karen’s clients include large corporate entities significantly in the financial services, technology and media and retail sectors.

Restructuring groups and deal structure support to ensure the best possible tax outcomes and implementation are areas where Karen has added significant value to her clients.

Karen has effectively led and managed teams to achieve growth, development and success of the projects or achievement of the objective sought.

She has excellent project management skills ensuring that large projects run smoothly resulting in timeous deliverables and successful conclusion.

She has significant people management skills and excels at motivating and leading client-focused teams. She also enjoys teaching and mentoring younger team members. In her career she has worked in a consulting capacity – she was a tax partner at Andersen (formerly Arthur Andersen), KPMG and PwC – and in-house as a tax director at a multinational, based in South Africa and The Netherlands.
